Part of the President’s Management Agenda’s data focus emphasizes consistent definitions and identification between agencies. Hudson Hollister, President of the Data Foundation, says that a solution could come from the private sector.
“The Legal Entity Identifier is a global identification code for companies. It’s being used by dozens of regulatory agencies around the world, including four regimes in the United States, to identify companies that have to report to government or are otherwise tracked by government,” said Hollister. “By using the Legal Identifier, governments can hook into a system that makes identification fully interoperable. You can see all of the interactions between a company or non-profit, and all of the government agencies it’s reporting to.”
