Former Department of Labor Executive Joins Data Foundation

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 26, 2022– The Data Foundation announced Sara Johnson joined the organization as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Vice President for Strategy and Operations. In her role as COO, Sara joins the executive leadership team of the Data Foundation. Sara will support strategic planning, external relations, human resources, and development activities.  

“Sara’s experience championing the strategic use of data to inform the Labor Department’s decision making is a major asset for our organization in the efforts to help improve the national infrastructure for evidence-informed policymaking,” said Nick Hart, Data Foundation President and CEO. “On behalf of our Board, team, and partners, we’re thrilled to welcome Sara to the Data Foundation team and look forward to her thoughtful leadership, enthusiasm, and innovation as we improve society with data.” 

Prior to joining the Data Foundation, Sara served as the Acting Deputy Administrator for the Office of Policy Development and Research at the Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA), and launched a new Division of Data Analytics and Strategic Planning to accelerate ETA’s data analytics and data governance activities. She previously implemented data-driven enforcement activities in the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division. Sara holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a bachelor's degree from Duke University.
